Designer: stella mccartneyinspiration: the past, present and future. stella is amongst those designers who use their show to communicate a message, and this time she uses more sustainable and organic materials, with the idea of reusing in mind she looked through her own archives.collection: fluidity and utility. the designer makes what she loves, a wardrobe and allure with a sense of responsibility surrounding flowing dresses, elegant coats and fitted jumpsuits, all structured with enhanced shoulders.multiple pockets appear on trousers and jackets. dresses are worn with ribbon belts, additions of leather edges, floral prints and constructions surrounding necklines. men respond to women in their enveloping coats, worn over suits or outfits in burgundy and khaki green tones.note: boots with platform soles in natural rubber+ the collaboration with the artist sheila hicks for accessories composed of threads that are added to clothing+ oprah winfrey on the front row as star guestinterview with stella mc cartney:this collection is about being generationless, it’s about the past, the now and tomorrow and the future and it’s important to us at the brand i think thats how we work, and i thought, well the biggest gift you can give to anyone coming to your show is planting a tree or dedicating a tree in their name or in their loved one's name. so that’s where it, sort of the seed was planted and then it became the ‘there she grows’ campaign and this idea of opening it up to people beyond you know, just who’s invited here and asking people to make a dedication and i’ll make a donation to the looser ecosystem in indonesia, via canopy so … it’s become like an awareness campaign, it’s great, i’m really proud of it.that idea of contrasts and the sort of tension is always there at stella mccartney, so to have these beautiful fluid pale pink dresses on someone like malgosia but to have this strong shoulder, you know, it’s important as a women i think you have both sides to you.we took old vintage printed pieces that we had, a lot of fashion houses burn their stock and we were like ‘what can we do with this?’ and so we upcycled, we also had two pieces in the runway that were more like conscious couture, that they were basically hundreds of old t-shirts that were just going into the land and we cut them up and we stitched them. music from the show (for use only in context of the show, under cover of the right to information).
