Maison Rabih Kayrouz - collection Autumn/Winter 2017/18 in Paris (with interview)

Designer : Rabih KayrouzLocation : His hôtel particulier, in Paris Inspiration : for his collections, he likes to inspire uniforms “there isn’t anything more noble than a person in his clothes” he says. This time, we could say that it’s about the Parisian uniform like a trench coat or a pea jacket, but we also fine his Lebanese origins: the lights are dimmed and the long dresses mix with the tunics. The universe is joyous, soft and feminine. Collection: no accessories but studied clothes to dress the beauty of the woman. The wardrobe is composed of ample coats, long and short trench coats, long dresses and short trousers, always with a refined oriental touch. With the exception of thick stripes in black and white or gold and white, all the clothes are all in one colour. To note : Rabih Kayrouz likes to bridge the gap between the oriental and western cultures – between an enveloping, comfortable garment and one more tailored rational and radical piece to on the body.Interview with Rabih Kayrouz :The garment itself is important to me, how it’s made, why it’s made and what it’s made of, so that’s why I begin with the materials. The colours are a major part of my search, I really like colours, I wanted basic colours for the basic clothes themselves, and to treat the materials such as the velvet, the wool, cashmere and the silk… there’s not one high tech invention, but I think that the innovation comes with emotions with which we make these clothes and for the woman that I want to dressI think that superimposing the coats is so elegant, and I want this, I want to take the pieces and compose them how we want, as I did for this fashion show.I live for contrast, I love the mixture in these clothes there is a very structured, very Parisian side, the streets of Paris like the trench coats, the pea coat and the coats, mixed with the variety of oriental enveloping volumes, and always a variety of work between the two sides which are quite contrasted but it’s why I’m here, it’s me.Music from the show (only to be used in the context of the show, protected by the right to information.)
