Issey Miyake- Fashion Show Ready to Wear Spring-Summer 2016 in Paris (with interview)

The jungle and its colours are in the heart of the Issey Miyake collection. The fabrics here are always refined. For this season the designer Yoshiyuki Miyamae developed a unique pleated formula, the "baked stretch", enhanced by colourful prints evoking tropical flora, creating unexpected 3D curve and wave effects. Plant fibres are also used for shirts and jackets in ultra-thin paper. It is always about comfort and an easy wardrobe for everyday wear. The sizes never restrict the body, even when it comes to t-shirts or tubular skirts. Please note: The live performance from Ei Wada and Masatsugu Hattori accompanied the collection with electronic percussions.Interview from: Yoshiyuki MiyamaeThe theme of this collection is Botanica Delight, so we got the inspiration from colour and form, so the nature of the jungle and a jungle that is full of life. This time we developed new types of pleats and we called it “baked stretch”. Pleats are very interesting as it is creates a more 3 dimensional texture so when the models walk you can see the changes of colours, like people walking into a jungle, so you can see the many colours and bright lights and feel lots of emotions so I wanted to portray that kind of mood. This time texture is very important for us, for example, this is like a root so it’s a very special technique we use, we are using more natural fabric like cotton or this is actually paper from a banana fabric.Music of the show
