A story of jackets : from short ones to trench coats (with itws)

The jacket is an essential, even for summer. For 2013, the ultra short version prevails. (itw) Therefore there are new proportions for the silhouette with this type of short overcoat, made in different materials and in all forms. Biker or chic, zipped or buttoned, it becomes an indispensable piece of the summer wardrobe. We note that the sportswear jacket, with a teddy feel, proposed with more lightness for summer, equally manages to take over. Of course we find the leather jacket, also offered in its short version and made in a more supple leather. The trend seems to be moving towards the famous 80s jacket. The idea for summer is to opt for rather bright and unexpected colours. Dare originality with the new cape jacket by Altuzarra. (itw) The tailoring side is found on the trench. Each designer constantly reworks it, in a more couture or urban way, it continues to feminize and even electrifies for summer in unusual tones.

Interview
Karl Lagerfeld : A caraco or a bolero jacket, you can call it what you want, but it plays into the question of proportions, it lengthens the legs because if it stops at the waist, there’s less place than if you go 15 or 20cm higher, so it lengthens it.

Joseph Altuzarra : There was this idea of doing a lot of tailoring for this collection, but doing it in a summer way, so we opened the sides up a bit, it can be worn almost like a cape and I think there’s an interesting look, it’s a new way to wear a jacket and a new way of doing tailoring.
