Dutch cosmetics brand Rituals has opened a new store in Islington. Located at the North London shopping centre Angel Central, the 1,040-sq-ft store expands the brand’s presence in the city where it has several more standalones and concessions.

Rituals is part of a process to expand the retailer mix at Angel Central

The brand, which has 450 stores in 27 countries, plus more than 1,450 concessions and 4 city spas, used its in-house design team to create the new space. It draws on its eastern influences with dark wood and soft lighting.

Islington has become a key destination for higher-end beauty brands in recent years and the mall also houses a L’Occitane store.

The arrival of Rituals is a key part of Angel Central operator CBRE’s plans to invest in the mall this year with more leisure tenants and a wider variety of retail brands. It brought in Queensberry Real Estate as development manager to oversee changes to the occupier mix and the overall environment.

Anchored by H&M, it also features Gap, Calzedonia, French Connection, Monsoon, paper chase, Muji and a newly revamped Oasis, plus a cinema and dining at Wagamama and Gourmet Burger Kitchen.

Rituals opened its first store in 2000 and has grown into a major beauty-meets-lifestyle brand with products like home fragrances and pure tea to complement its skincare, bodycare and mineral make-up offer.

As well as regular retailer stores, it has been expanding fast in duty free, airline, cruise liners and ferries as well as hotels.
