Eastpak has produced a new 'Inspired by the world of' collaboration with a French fashion label. As reported last November, the US backpack specialist’s 'Paul & Joe Voyageur' collection was designed by Eastpak together with the French ready-to-wear label founded by Sophie Méchaly.
The collaboration is inspired by the world of travel, and may well trigger a getaway craving in many a globe-trotter. It consists of a full range of luggage, bags and accessories, decorated with two printed designs created by Paul & Joe.
Sophie Méchaly, Paul & Joe's founder and designer, is passionate about travelling, and her motto is 'travelling means opening up to inspiration'. Her adventurous spirit is reflected the collection's first series of neo-camo prints, in brown, khaki and lilac. The second motif is instead more feminine, featuring a dark green background on which a riot of pink butterfly figures seems to be about to settle.
The collection will be available in-store in March, and will include items priced between €32 and €189, among them the 'Tranzshell', a suitcase with a 360° wheeling system and the 'Tranverz', a softer, lighter wheeled travel bag. Both models are available in three different sizes. The 'Paul & Joe Voyager' collection also offers the 'Renana' duffel bag, for short trips or daily use, the 'Springer' bum bag, a typical 1990s accessory which is making a comeback, the 'Oval Case' toiletries bag and the 'Wyoming’ backpack, fitted with a laptop compartment for connected travellers. All of these items were featured at the French fashion label's latest runway show.
