Uniqlo reissues key pieces from capsule with Jil Sander

There are some who are nostalgic for the collaboration between Uniqlo and the German designer Jil Sander. They have now been heard. At a time when so many retailers go for one co-branding after another, Uniqlo has preferred to go in for the long term. While it’s currently collaborating with Inès de la Fressange, the Japanese retailer has opted for a flashback by reissuing the best pieces from +J, the line overseen by the designer Jil Sander in 2009.

A women’s and a man’s piece from the J + collection for Uniqlo.

Forty or so men’s and women’s pieces will be reissued beginning on October 2 in select international flagship stores, as well as on the brand’s online store. Ranging from 40 euros for a shirt to 200 euros for a coat, Uniqlo has reintroduced the rigorous and minimalist aesthetic of Jil Sander to its customers. It’s a reissue that also demonstrates the timelessness of a collection that was designed several years ago.

The collaboration +J, which lasted five seasons, was particularly significant given that the German designer no longer worked for her eponymous label at the time. With this best of, she has made her way back into stores, having returned to the brand for three seasons before leaving the brand again in late 2013.
