Under Armour has opened its first directly-operated in Spain. The American sportswear company has relaunched on 29 June a shop at San Sebastian de los Reyes The Style Outlets, previously managed by the brand’s former local representative.

The clothing company had, until the end of last year, a distribution partnership with Alnisa Sports, which operated the brand’s outlet at the Neinver mall. In November, Under Armour created its own subsidiary in Spain to take full control of its operations in the country.

The Madrid store has been upsized and now occupies a space of 400 sq mts. It introduces Under Armour’s new concept and marks the opening of the first directly-operated location in Spain.

“The San Sebastian de los Reyes The Style Outlets mall is a strategic point of sale that forms part of our outlet channel’s expansion plans. We have chosen this mall to open our first store for its history and position in the north of Madrid,” said  Philipp Lin from Under Armour.

The US brand joins the line-up of footwear, clothing and accessories brands housed at the shopping mall, which also offers the only Le Coq Sportif outlet store in Madrid.

Founded in 1996 by University of Maryland football player Kevin Plank, Under Armor began its journey with the ambition of creating a quality t-shirt that wicked moisture and kept athletes cool and dry. Today, the brand sells hundreds of products across clothing, footwear and sports accessories for men, women and children.
