Tommy Hilfiger launches Covid-19 benefit capsule, donates t-shirts to healthcare workers

Published

In its latest push to provide relief during the Covid-19 pandemic, PVH's Tommy Hilfiger brand has announced that it will donate over 10,000 white t-shirts to support public health efforts in the United States and Europe.

The shirts will go to healthcare workers caring for Covid-19 patients, whose Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) can become so warm that it causes them to change t-shirts up to three times a shift, the brand said.

To provide further aid to those impacted by the coronavirus, Tommy Hilfiger will also launch a capsule collection of limited edition white t-shirts and sweatshirts, with 100% of proceeds going to global Covid-19 relief efforts. In order to boost consumer engagement, the collection will be designed in collaboration with the public: from now until April 30, consumers can visit @tommyhilfiger or @tommyjeans on Instagram to vote on their favorite designs, and winning styles will launch in May on tommy.com in select markets.

“As we're all facing these extraordinary circumstances, standing together is the strongest way forward,” said Tommy Hilfiger. “We’re committed to give back and provide help where it's needed the most. Never has our spirit of determined optimism been more present than it is today. We encourage everyone to continue supporting those supporting us by staying home.”

“As we navigate these challenging times it’s more important than ever that we stand strong to support our communities and industry,” added Daniel Grieder, CEO of Tommy Hilfiger Global and PVH Europe. “This crisis will change us, but it will not stop us. Together we will get through the challenges and keep serving our communities as best we can. We are thankful for the dedication of healthcare professionals all over the world.”

Since the beginning of the global outbreak, PVH--which also owns Calvin Klein--has made multiple significant contributions to pandemic relief efforts, from localized charities around the world to A Common Thread. In early February, PVH contributed 2M RMB ($275,000) to the Chinese Society of the Red Cross, and the company has donated multiple millions of dollars to relief efforts through its philanthropic arm, the PVH Foundation. The foundation is also working with PVH’s long-term partner Better Work to support activities benefitting suppliers and workers through the crisis.

In order to directly support healthcare workers, the company also donated millions of PPE items, including isolation gowns, KN95 masks, 3-ply masks, and face shield masks, to Montefiore Health System in New York.
