Skechers partners with Line Friends for capsule collaboration
Marking the footwear company’s latest foray into the limited-edition footwear market, the Line Friends x Skechers collaboration will offer a range of Skechers styles including Skecher Street, Skechers Sport and Skechers Cali for women, plus Skechers Kids sneakers and sandals for girls, all featuring Line Friends characters.
According to a press release, the first launch of the collaboration will feature characters Brown, Cony and Sally, while a following launch will feature characters Edward, Jessica, Leonard, and Choco.
“Jumping off the instant success of our Skechers D’Lites X One Piece collaboration, we’re thrilled to now partner with Line Friends—one of the fastest-growing global character brands in the world right now,” said Michael Greenberg, president of Skechers.
“And with the massive millennial appeal of the Line Friends characters, we expect our collaboration will lead fashion-savvy fans to talk, wear and get excited about Skechers.”
Initial styles from the collaboration are available now in the United States, Canada, China and Hong Kong, with additional styles set to arrive later this summer. In the U.S., the Line Friends x Skechers collection will be available at Skechers retail stores, via its e-commerce site and at select retail partners.
Line Friends is a global character brand originally started by Brown & Friends and based on stickers for the mobile messenger app, Line.
The line app is operated by Line Corporation, a Japanese subsidiary of the South Korean internet search giant Naver Corporation.
Previously, the Line characters have been featured in various product collaborations; including collaborations with Bang & Olufsen, Converse, Lamy and Brompton; as well as animations, games, cafes, hotels and theme parks.
