On Wednesday, the police stated they have questioned a worker employed by French cosmetics brand Sisley, who is suspected of having stolen products for a loss of "several hundred thousand euro" to the company. He was interrogated on Monday near the town of Blois.

The man, 49, has worked on the luxury French manufacturer's assembly line for several years. He stole the products (skin creams, make-up, etc.) "after they were packaged", stated the Versailles detectives working on the investigation. He then sold them via the web to a couple in their forties, who were questioned on Monday at their home in Vigneux-sur-Seine (Essonne), with the help of the Essonne regional intervention group.

Approximately €11,000 were seized from the couple's bank account, as was also their home, valued by the investigators at €300,000, bought using the proceeds from the cosmetics’ sales. The police stated that the trio, not formerly known to the prosecutors, "have admitted the facts", which date back "as far as 2012."

They will be prosecuted for theft, receiving stolen goods, money laundering and illicit labour, and are set to appear before the Evry criminal court on 11th October, a court source has stated.

Sisley is a Paris brand whose products are based on phyto-cosmetics. It is present in 90 countries and generates 85% of its revenue through exports.
