Shiseido names Marc Rey chief growth officer

Marc Rey is diving into an expanded mandate at Shiseido

The president and CEO of Shiseido Americas has been appointed to the newly established role of chief growth officer, the global Japanese skincare brand announced on Monday. 
 
In this role, starting January 1, 2019, Rey’s main responsibilities will include developing a new business model and promoting a growth strategy for the brand to continue to grow in the global beauty market. He will also manage global M&A for the company, in collaboration with the company’s headquarters in Japan, as well as oversee the newly established Technology Acceleration Hub based in Cambridge, Massachusetts. 

Rey will continue in his current role as CEO of Shiseido Americas and remain in charge of regional business activities in the Americas, and as brand holder of global makeup brands BareMinerals, Nars, and Laura Mercier. He will also oversee the company’s Centers of Excellence for Makeup and Digital.
 
Jim Mainard, previously executive vice president of digital strategy and new business development at DreamWorks Animation, will lead the Technology Acceleration Hub as president, as of November 12. 
 
Shiseido further announced the appointment of Ron Gee, CFO of Shiseido Americas, as global M&A leader. He will lead a team dedicated to global M&A across all geographies and categories including emerging technologies.
