Sézane is heading for New York. The Parisian womenswear label first launched on the web in 2013, then followed up with a US-specific website in 2016. Its US expansion now takes a physical path, as the high-end label is set to open a brick-and-mortar store in New York, its first outside France, on 7th September.

The co-branding initiative with L.A. Dance Project - Sézane

Of course Sézane is steering well away from a traditional retail format, opting instead to replicate in New York its apartment-style concept first tested in Paris. The label has picked 185 m2 premises in the Nolita district, at 254 Elizabeth Street. The interior design was commissioned to US architects Talbot & Yoon, who created a domestic ambience "infused with Parisian magic," using several decorative features imported from France.

The Sézane ‘apartment’ will offer for sale the label's ready-to-wear and accessories collections, its collaborations (like the very recent one with L.A. Dance Project), and a lifestyle selection curated by the label's founder, Morgane Sézalory. Sézane will supply the new store with its own local product stock.

To make the flat even more welcoming, a café area will soon open within it, and a partnership with a local florist has also been set up.

After its online launch in 2013, Sézane established a string of points of physical contact with customers: besides the apartment format inaugurated in rue Saint-Fiacre, Paris, in 2015, the brand opened a series of pop-up stores scattered across Europe. The New York store will be Sézane's first permanent retail outlet outside France, marking a new phase in the label's warp-speed development.
