IMG Fashion’s Project NextGen winners were announced for the Australian Fashion Week showcase this week.

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia, Australia’s only international fashion week taking place May 15-20, 2016, held a coveted competition where hand picked designers could showcase their looks in the St. George NextGen show.

The 6 winners were chosen out of a 50 finalist pool, with international judges making the decision for the first time in the showcase history.
Winners include Anna Quan, who has gained popularity among bloggers and celebrities, leatherwear label Holystone, and gender fluid made to order label Jason Hewitt.

Emily Weight, head of IMG, was the lead judge, along with top names including editor-in-chief of Vogue Australia, Edwina McCann, and editor-in-chief of Harper’s Bazaar Australia, Kelly Hush.

The competition was judged at the Old Clare Hotel, where designers showed their lines and also made statements on their creative vision and their future business strategies for their brands.

The winners also gain a 1 year mentorship with the St. George Bank Advisory Board, which is designed to “prepare them for the industry.”

“We are excited to see the creativity and craftsmanship that the next class of Australian designers bring to the runway, and hope that they inspire the following generation to ‘start something’ truly amazing as well,” said Martine Jager, St. George Bank Chief Marketing Officer, CEO, RAMS.
