Première Vision New York confirms its position

Première Vision's New York event brought together 4,143 visitors (+4%) on 19th and 20th January, in its first edition held at Pier 94, featuring an expanded range including for the first time leather and finished goods.

No more Pier 92, a building overlooking the Hudson river which extends lengthwise and constrained the show's expansion. The Première Vision New York trade show was held in the building next door, a huge warehouse with a T-shaped layout, in which the various sections joined up in the middle, with a shared trend area. Also, Pier 94 offers a bigger benefit: it is capable of catering for the expected additions to the event's offering. "We are in a good position to become the fashion professionals' event in New York, since there is no equivalent to it for the time being in the USA," stated Guglielmo Olearo, the International Exhibitions Director of Première Vision.

The show's previous edition attracted some 4,000 visitors to view 297 exhibitors, all of them braving arctic temperatures. This time the show beat by a few days the first snowstorm to hit the Big Apple this winter, and featured 364 exhibitors split up in the three usual sections: Fabrics (132 companies), Accessories (19) and Designs (157). As well as, for the first time, Leather (30 companies) and Manufacturing (26).

"We enjoyed the presence of brands that are already well-established, but also of several small and medium-size companies, allowing us to renew the pool of potential clients in this market. Our strategy has always focused on constant expansion, and we are well on our way to do so, despite the economic situation," enthused Guglielmo Olearo who, like the exhibitors, is prudent with regards to the economic climate. "For the time being, everyone is playing it by ear and being pragmatic, unable to make any forecast beyond 4-6 months. The next Paris show will offer a reliable indicator of the market's current health."

Première Vision New York's next edition will be held on 19th and 20th July, still at Pier 94. Before then, Manhattan will also host Première Vision New York Designs on 12th and 13th April. The organiser' main event, Première Vision Paris, is instead scheduled from 16th to 18th February at the Villepinte exhibition centre. Early on in summer, the organiser will take a further step in its expansion by featuring a preview show for autumn-winter 2017-2018 on 6th and 7th July.
