Off-White this week unveiled two collaborations with sportswear label Champion and luxury online retailer Mytheresa.com.
Collaborations and partnerships have been an integral part in Off-White’s strategy. Creative Director Virgil Abloh created limited-edition pieces with Moncler, Dr. Martens, and Braun in 2016, and in this year alone launched partnerships with Nike, Jennifer Fisher, Kith, Jimmy Choo on shoes for the Off-White spring 2018 runway show, and Warby Parker for Off-White’s first eyewear collection.
The partnership with Champion was first seen in March on English rap artist Skepta and was later confirmed by Abloh. Off-White’s New York City store, EM PTY Gallery, shared an image of the collaboration on Instagram and said the collection will be available exclusively at the SoHo store. The pieces in the photo, a red, oversized t-shirt and black sweatpants in remade vintage fleece and jersey, are expected to be available at the store.
The partnership between Off-White and Mytheresa.com was also first unveiled in March. The label released a short video to preview the collection, and launched the 9-piece capsule collection in May. The latest iteration of their partnership, launching on Mytheresa.com on October 18, is comprised of the Binder Clip bag with the label’s signature black and white slant line design, the “Sculpture” tote with orange and yellow industrial straps or a thin white leather strap, and the 3.0 men’s sneaker.
Collaborations are commonplace in the fashion industry, and many young designers have utilized brand partnerships to enhance their world and introduce their world to new consumers. Off-White has mastered this premise and is partly the reason why the label is one of the most buzzworthy brands today.
