Following the news that Asos is looking to cut up to 100 jobs at its London headquarters, the online retailer could be looking at further redundancies after kickstarting a review at its customer care facility in Watford.

It is understood that about 100 jobs could be lost at the facility, which would bring a total of jobs under threat to around 200.

Asos launched a review at the facility earlier this year after revealing that profits had fallen by 87% to £4 million in the six months to February - despite a 14% increase in sales to £1.3 billion.

The findings could be revealed in the retailer’s upcoming trading update that is scheduled for later this month.

In April, CEO Nick Beighton said Asos was “capable of a lot more.”

“We have identified a number of things we can do better and are taking action accordingly,” he stressed as he revealed the company’s half-year results. He blamed a “major capex programme” for the decline in profitability, saying it had caused significant disruption and transition costs during the period.

But Beighton insisted the company could improve its performance in the second half, and left the full-year guidance unchanged.

Earlier the month, it was revealed that Asos had launched a consultation with staff over 100 redundancies at its London head office.
