McDonalds held its McDCouture Fashion Show at Funkshion Miami FW15 on November 5, 2015. Food and fashion don’t often go hand in hand, but the fast food company challenged that stigma at Funkshion Fashion Week.

The 20-look collection was designed by fashion students from Miami International University of Art and Design. The students were challenged by a South Florida McDonald’s franchisee to create an original fashion collection made entirely out of McDonald’s food packaging. The final collection utilized more than 4,600 McDonald’s sandwich wrappers, 1,770 fry boxes, 1,100 straws, 600 to-go bags, 500 sandwich boxes, 200 soft drink cups, 500 ketchup holders and 100 McFlurry cups.

Prior to the show, Fashion Group International of South Florida presented a Community Service Award to Cabrera/Betancourt organization, owners of 20 McDonald’s in South Florida.

The McDCouture collection will be displayed at the Miami International University of Art and Design.
