Massimo Dutti, a label owned by Spain’s Inditex Group, chose its iconic Paseo de Gracia flagship shop in Barcelona as the ideal location to present its new Autumn/Winter men’s and women’s collection with an exclusive fashion show held in-store on Friday 6 September.

In front of a carefully selected audience made up of fashion journalists, influencers, socialites and the cultural community of Barcelona, the brand presented its men’s and women’s Limited Edition collections. The men’s range demonstrated the label’s tailoring roots with pieces that explored a more casual look, giving models an intellectual flair. Meanwhile, the women’s collection put the emphasis on quality and comfort, inspired by the “most purist values of art, architecture and nature”. A sense of understated elegance ran throughout the entire collection

Reaching audiences far beyond the physical environment, the show was streamed live on the brand’s website and Instagram page, which boasts more than two million followers. And Massimo Dutti partnered with US actress Kate Bosworth to give online followers a look behind the scenes as the event unfolded.

This is not the first time the clothier has set itself apart from other Inditex brands by hosting a fashion show. With a more elevated aesthetic and affordable prices, the brand is firmly positioned in the prêt-à-porter segment, which blends the luxurious feel of high-end fashion with the availability of the high street. For the Spring/Summer 2018 collection’s debut, the brand held an event in the Palais de Tokyo in Paris, an exhibition space that is known for hosting numerous fashion shows during Paris Fashion Week. Prior to that, Massimo Dutti displayed its international growth ambitions with an impressive runway show in Shanghai, where it presented its Autumn/Winter 2018 range.

Massimo Dutti is Inditex’s fourth largest chain in terms of sales, after Zara and young fashion labels Bershka and Pull & Bear. In 2018, the brand increased revenues to 1.8 billion euros from 1.76 billion euros a year earlier. According to its most recent accounts, published on 1 January 2019, Massimo Dutti has 766 stores worldwide while Inditex operates 7,490. The Spanish group will release its half year results on Wednesday 11 September.
