Innovation and sustainability are two concepts at the centre of Mango’s proposition these days. After announcing that 100% of its cotton will come from sustainable sources by 2025, the Spanish company is getting creative with technology to expand its accessories range. The result is a 3D-printed jewellery capsule collection.

Comprising 10 pieces, the collection is mostly made using sustainable materials, such as resin, wood, PLA, terracotta, ceramics and plastics of biodegradable vegetable origin. The range leverages 3D-printing techniques in collaboration with Spanish tech specialist Comme Des Machines to support a zero waste approach.

According to the brand, the production process started out with Mango’s designs, which were then 3D-printed to create a series of ‘artisanal pieces’. Each accessory took between 30 and 60 minutes to be 3D-printed, and craftspeople put the finishing touches to smooth and seal the surface.

The capsule collection features earrings, rings and bracelets made from terracotta, with prices starting from€ 25.99. Launching this week, the range is available to purchase on the brand’s e-commerce site as well as in 30 physical stores across the UK, Spain, France, Italy, Germany, Ireland, Switzerland, Austria and Portugal.

This is not the first time Mango has ventured into the world of innovation. The company, which posted revenues of €2.23 billion in 2018, up 1.8% year-on-year, launched in December its first collection of tech accessories, including a wireless charger and iPhone cover. The label is also pioneering the use of social media to co-create its clothing collections.
