Mango appoints Josep Barberà as chief financial officer

Mango is strengthening its management team with the appointment of Josep Barberà as CFO. Barberà will join the Catalan company on March 4, replacing Toni Ruiz, who was promoted to general manager of the company last October.

Head of the financial department of Privalia until 2009, before joining as head of the Southern Europe and Latin America private-sales group in 2016 (the year Privalia was acquired by Vente-Privée), Barberà began his career in the consulting firm Deloitte audit, before joining the Catalan group Tradebe. With ten years experience in e-commerce, he joins Mango to offer his expertise to the company’s digital transformation plan. The appointment is accompanied by his entry into the company's executive committee, chaired by Isak Andic.

Josep Barberà is the latest to join the company following a series of recruitments in 2018: Jordi Álex Moreno became director of information and communication technologies, and Antonio Pascual was enlisted as world director of supply chain. Key positions filled in "a context of transformation and digital development of infrastructures and technological applications," the company explained.

Mango's sales reached 2.194 billion euros in 2017. At the end of the fiscal year, the brand had 2,190 stores including 211 megastores in 110 countries for a sales area growth of 1.8% to 812,000 square meters.

In 2019, the chain plans to open 60,000 square meters of additional sales space between its own stores and franchises, to boost its online sales so that they represent 20% of its turnover and plans to inaugurate new offices dedicated to digital innovation in the district of Barcelona known as 22@.
