More details are emerging about Julie de Libran’s new womenswear label. The French designer, who stepped down as creative director of Sonia Rykiel last March, has decided to take advantage of the Paris Haute Couture week to present her new collection.

On June 30, on the sidelines of Paris' haute couture week, Julie de Libran will officially unveil the 20 dresses featured in her collection. No image of the line has been published yet, except for a few sketches posted on Instagram. The only information provided is that the collection focuses on “timeless style and craftsmanship, and [puts] special emphasis on sustainable production,” according to a press release by Julie de Libran.

“After working for many years in the fashion industry, I decided to leverage my experience to produce a limited number of unique, special items, produced according to the highest manufacturing standards and as responsibly as possible, with minimal waste. This is the direction fashion is taking. This approach reflects not just the way I work as a designer, but also how I live my life as a creative and a mother, in an increasingly busy, fast-moving world. These items are designed to be appreciated and cherished by women,” said de Libran in the press release.

While the French designer is launching her solo career, the Sonia Rykiel label is in great danger of being liquidated. The deadline for filing acquisition bids for the label was initially set on May 31, and was then pushed back to June 12. A week before the initial deadline, five people had expressed an interest in the label, though no one was willing to buy it outright.
