Harrods opens revamped hair and beauty salon

Harrods opened its new Hair & Beauty Salon on Monday after a full makeover for the location. The 16,985 sq ft space has new “game-changing” features and “must-have” products from “the world’s most innovative beauty brands, all under one roof”.

It was completely redesigned by London-based Sparcstudio Design, and pays homage to the Salon’s 1982 look. That means glossy peach marble, cream stone counters and powder-pink walls with gold finishes. The newly designed space hosts treatment spaces that include a Backwash Room, Conditioning Bar, Hairdressing Rotunda, Eye Zone, and a Hair Extension Library.

The retailer’s beauty director Annalise Fard said the opening is “another significant landmark in Harrods’ quest to bring our customers a world-class beauty proposition that delivers expert hair and beauty experiences. Harrods has invested in pushing the boundaries in what is expected from a beauty destination”.

The Backwash Room is inspired by traditional Japanese head spa rituals that the Harrods beauty team discovered in Tokyo, and offers “a rejuvenating facial for the scalp".

The Conditioning Bar is “dedicated to offering the latest conditioning and scalp treatments”, including cocktails of Kérastase Fusio-Dose boosters tailored to customers’ specific hair needs, as well as restructuring treatments, from ‘Hair Botox’ to Philip Kingsley’s popular Elasticizer, “which leaves hair feeling completely revitalised”.

The dedicated hairstyling space, the Hairdressing Rotunda, features new stations that are spaced out in a curved central seating area, “emulating the salon’s original 1982 design and bringing to life a feeling of old-world glamour, while also offering privacy”.

And the addition of the Hair Extension Library with an array of colours, lengths, and styles on hand, means doing away with the need for a full consultation to order extensions ahead of time.

There are also "transformative hair treatments from Trichology to Laser Hair removal, as well as a menu of exclusive facial treatments, waxing, massages, and body wraps”. The dedicated Eye Zone offers everything from eyelash extensions to exclusive Anastasia Beverly Hills eyebrow treatments. Nail treatments and decoration are also a key focus on the new space.

The retail aspect of the makeover includes products from 43 “powerhouse beauty brands with several Harrods exclusives”.
