With this move Flipkart will now compete with Amazon in the international market and also give sellers on its platform an opportunity to sell its products to a global market.

Amazon’s global selling programme that was launched two years back has over 20,000 sellers from India listing their products on its 10 global e-commerce marketplaces. With its global programme the Indian etailer is looking to give its sellers access to almost 190 international markets.

“The 'Flipkart Global' programme aims to push 'Made in India' products, especially to cater to non-resident Indians, said Anil Goteti, Head of eBay India told the Economic Times.

"We want to encourage Indian manufacturing especially in categories such as jewellery, lifestyle, saris and other made in India products. This is a large opportunity for us. We are looking to build on it with our massive seller base, the expertise of eBay India along with Flipkart’s technology and marketplace strength," Goteti added.

The program will enable sellers from India sell to over 171 million active customers of eBay globally in over 190 international markets. While customers globally will shop through eBay's platform, Flipkart will fulfill the orders in partnership with carriers.
