Eye masks, vivid colors and classic red lips: the best of haute couture beauty, day one
today Jan 23, 2018
The first Spring/Summer 2018 haute couture shows stormed the catwalks of Paris on Monday, and they didn't disappoint -- particularly when it came to offbeat beauty inspiration.
Exaggerated eyeliner representing spiky lashes was pulled out to create doll-like, feline shapes at Dior, framed by delicate and diaphanous eye masks created by the milliner Stephen Jones. Necklaces were replaced with tattooed words such as "liberté" and "d'amour," in addition to quotations by André Breton that underscored the surrealist, dreamlike quality of the look.
It was all about pale lips at Giambattista Valli, with the models sporting dusky pink and nude shades to match the romance of the collection. A flash of metallic shadow brought a touch of lightness to the look.
Ralph & Russo
The collection could have come straight out of a fairytale, but there was nothing saccharine about the beauty look, which comprised dewy skin with a fierce scarlet lip with a glossy finish, making for a powerful result.
The natural look reigned supreme at Schiaparelli, where the dewy complexions, glossy lips and lightly ruffled brows made for an ethereal finish.
Iris Van Herpen
Vivid eyeliner painted in thick stripes onto the lower lids was the focus of the arresting beauty look at Iris Van Herpen, with models sporting turquoise blue, lime green and canary yellow hues. Nude lips and hydrated complexions were all that was required to complete the look.
