Europe's first Uniqlo-Theory combo store to open in London this month

Fast Retailing has announced an opening date for the combined Uniqlo-Theory store that’s being created on London’s Regent Street. And the big day will be… April 21.

It’s a key move for the firm as it will be the first time in Europe that it has housed the mega-sized fashion basics brand Uniqlo and the more upscale Theory label in the same location.

The company last year took over the former Superdry flagship towards the lower end of Regent Street as Superdry moved into a new home in the vacated Forever 21 flagship on Oxford Street.

It meant Uniqlo relocating from its nearby site on the opposite side of Regent Street to the new 1,900 sq m (20,500 sq ft) store that’s spread across three floors.

When announced last July, Fast Retailing Chairman, President and CEO Tadashi Yanai said: “Regent Street and the United Kingdom hold a special significance to [us]. Regent Street was one of the first Uniqlo stores we opened outside our home market Japan, back in 2001. During these past 20 years we have raised our profile as a global apparel retailer, and in the UK market alone, we now boast several stores.”

Regent Street has been a must-be-there location for many international brands in recent years and it seems to have bounced back from the pandemic much faster than Oxford Street has.

A raft of recent signings/openings have included Bally, Fabletics and Gymshark, among others.
