Escada will have to do without its CEO Iris Epple-Righi. According to German media, the highly experienced fashion industry executive has left the German luxury label, which was bought by US private equity firm Regent last autumn.

Iris Epple-Righi has stepped down as CEO of Escada - Escada

In October 2016, Epple-Righi, now 54, became the first woman to take charge of Escada, when Indian businesswoman Megha Mittal, the owner of Escada before it was bought by Regent, hired her to lead the label from its headquarters in Aschheim, near Munich. Epple-Righi was tasked with steering a faltering Escada to a more satisfactory course.

Her strategy, aimed at restoring the label to its former glory by appealing to a younger audience, seems to have failed. When Regent acquired Escada, it was initially thought that Epple-Righi would want to give the German luxury label another fresh start. This hasn’t obviously been the case. There is no indication of a replacement for the outgoing exec just yet.

According to German media, other heads may roll among the label’s senior executive team, as Escada's difficulties have been ongoing for several years.

Last week, Jürgen Putzer was appointed vice-president marketing and communication for the label.
