Italian fashion and denim brand Dondup announced on Wednesday that Matteo Anchisi has been promoted to the position of CEO, a role in which he succeeds Marco Casoni, who left the company in December to pursue new professional projects.

In his new position, Anchisi will seek to reinforce the international and digital presence of the brand, which was acquired by L Catterton International Private Equity Fund in 2015, while simultaneously doubling down on the wholesale segment and striving to increase the involvement of the final consumer.

He will also be aiming to drive improvements in Dondup’s corporate culture, continuing to emphasise the “Made in Italy” personality at the core of the brand’s identity.

As denim will continue to be a key element in the label’s strategy for future growth, Anchisi has further identified the need to focus on research and innovation in this category. Moving forward, the brand will be aiming to achieve greater environmental sustainability through new products and processes, a preoccupation already demonstrated by the launch of its D/Zero project at the end of last year.

Anchisi first joined Dondup as sales director and global market manager in 2016 and was made chief operating officer in 2018. Over the course of his career, he has built up experience in research, product, strategic marketing and sales, having served in positions of increasing responsibility in a range of premium brands.

Prior to joining Dondup, he spent stints as managing director at Milan-based menswear brand Drumohr, general manager at Mauro Grifoni and SVP sales at Slowear.

Founded in 2000 by Massimo Berloni and Manuela Mariotti, Dondup reported turnover of 54.7 million euros in 2017.
