Dior Maison, the French luxury label's home decoration line, has ambitious expansion plans, a message it broadcast loud and clear in Milan. After making a first foray in 2016 with Dior menswear, the label owned by the LVMH luxury group came out in force to Italy’s design capital for the Milan Furniture Fair, to unveil an exclusive collaboration between its home décor line and renowned Milanese architecture and interior decoration studio DimoreStudio.

The collection was presented in an ultra-sophisticated, albeit rather sombre setting, within one of Milan’s most fascinating palazzi: the splendid Casa degli Atellani, built in the XVth century and decorated with frescoes and paintings by Renaissance masters, located just opposite the Santa Maria delle Grazie church, home to Leonardo’s ‘Last Supper’. The great master himself only had to cross the road to enter the palazzo’s hidden garden with its extensive vineyard.

DimoreStudio has designed for Dior Maison an exclusive collection of 14 rare objects with a distinctive pared-down style, consisting of vases, platters, a chandelier, a lighter and ashtray, place cards, frames and an umbrella stand, all of them looking like genuine pieces of art. The collection is steeped in a luxurious, contemporary feel, featuring precious materials and unique craftsmanship.

The pieces are made with metals like gold, silver, bronze and brushed or chrome steel, occasionally combined with Plexiglas or woven rattan. The Dior Maison x DimoreStudio collection is available on special order only, for one year.

This is the first major artistic collaboration between Dior Maison and the design world. The label did join forces with renowned designers and craftsmen in the past, but for smaller-scale collections, sometimes for one type of object only.

Dior’s ‘art of living’ and home decoration line is mostly focused on tableware, gift items and home linen. Dior’s objective is to strengthen its presence in the segment by broadening the range with a genuine collection for the entire home, from accessories to furniture.

DimoreStudio was founded in Milan in 2003 by US graphic artist Britt Moran and Tuscan furniture manufacturer Emiliano Salci, and it often collaborates with the world of fashion. Among others, DimoreStudio worked with Hermès and Fendi, which until recently was led by Pietro Beccari, who in 2018 took charge of Christian Dior Couture.
