Caroll, the French women's fashion retailer, is steering a rather volatile course, like its owner the Vivarte group. The latter has appointed Sandrine Lilienfeld as the new CEO of Caroll, making this the third leadership change for the label in less than three years.

Former CEO Martine Barrachina has left the company "to devote herself to another professional challenge," and was replaced by Sandrine Lilienfeld from 10th January. This new change at the top comes at a time of extreme uncertainty for the Vivarte group, whose management is envisaging new divestments. An extraordinary meeting of the group's employee representation committee is scheduled for 23rd January.

The Caroll ready-to-wear label, whose style is more formal than its counterparts within the Vivarte group, has actually been the group's better performer in the last few years. It operates over 300 stores in France and is one of the group's retail brands whose network has grown more in recent times,  though its sale has also been considered in the past.

What will Sandrine Lilienfeld's mission be at Caroll? The new CEO has already worked for the group in the past, having spent nine years with Vivarte before becoming General Manager of the Gérard Darel group between 2013 and 2015. She was initially in charge of IT and the supply chain at Kookaï, and was then appointed General Manager of Naf Naf. Formerly, she had also worked in purchasing and design at the Galeries Lafayette and Etam groups.
