Browns has unveiled a nine-piece capsule “that sees Small Talk Studio put a personal touch on Carhartt WIP's traditional workwear”.

Carhartt WIP x Small Talk Studio at Browns

Created exclusively for the high-end Farfetch-owned retailer, it’s pure ‘artwear’ — the category that links streetwear with art — and the retailer said it “perfectly defines New York-based Small Talk Studio”.

“Finding inspiration in nostalgia, founder of the brand, Nicholas Williams references vintage garden magazines, plant seed packets, grocery store goods and outdoor guidebooks, spending hours hand-embroidering garments with unique, colourful floral graphics and animal illustrations that have quickly become his signature,” we’re told.

Key items include a three-piece co-ord and everyday jerseys. There are also accessories such as beanie hats and totes reinterpreted with colourful hand-drawn illustrations “that capture the essence of summertime Americana”.

It’s part of Browns’ overall strategy to bring unique indie labels such as Small Talk to wider attention and the company said it already has a strong customer base buying Carhartt WIP essentials.

The retailer said that the new collection infuses the latter’s bestsellers, “distinguishable for their premium fabrics, rugged construction and comfortable fit, with an unexpected combination of graphics that gives each piece that added character”.

Prices for the individual pieces start at £80 for screen-printed jersey T-shirts, rising to £650 for an intricately detailed hand-painted Detroit jacket.
