The fashion world too is stepping up to help Venice after the unprecedented flooding that recently hit the city. Bottega Veneta has in fact announced that it will contribute to the restoration of Saint Mark’s Basilica, in collaboration with international not-for-profit organisation Venetian Heritage.

The Italian luxury label, owned by French group Kering, will donate 30% of the proceeds from the sale of four of its handbag models to fund the restoration work for the Basilica’s floor mosaics and marble walls, badly damaged by the recent flooding.

The initiative includes the sales of the BV Classic, Marie, BV Angle and Arco models purchased at the label's monobrand stores in Italy and on its official Italian website between November 29 and December 29.

“Bottega Veneta’s brand identity is strongly linked to the history of the Veneto region. Venice epitomises this region’s heritage and we are committed to ensuring the future of one of its most iconic landmarks,” said the label’s CEO Leo Rongone.

“We are proud of being able to contribute to the restoration of Saint Mark's Basilica, one of the most significant and inspirational buildings in the city of Venice. The whole company is committed to protecting the heritage of the Veneto region,” added Daniel Lee, creative director of the label founded in Vicenza in 1966.
