This year's edition of Bangladesh Denim Expo held in Dhaka, Bangladesh drew some 5,000 professionals and buyers from over 46 countries, including the USA, the UK, Italy, Germany, France, Spain, Egypt, Belgium, China and the UAEs. The show featured 55 exhibitors from 15 countries, presenting the latest news and trends from the denim industry.

The main theme of the show's fifth edition was 'Natural Denim'. The objective is to promote a more responsible denim culture within the Bangladeshi marketplace, as the country is a strategic player in the industry and one of the world's leading producers.

The two-day event featured several seminars and panel discussions in which the debate focused on the industry's objectives for the next few years: the importance for Bangladesh of promoting bilateral negotiations with leading markets such as Europe, Canada and the USA; the need to progress along the road to industrial safety, a journey that started in recent years; and finally, the need to create products that are increasingly sustainable, both at the social and environmental level.

"The best way to foster the denim industry's business is to analyse and understand future trends," stated Mostafiz Uddin, founder and CEO of Bangladesh Denim Expo. "One of these is surely the adoption of a more ecological approach to manufacturing, implementing sustainable solutions that could be beneficial to the entire industry."
