BFC names finalists for menswear prize

Published
Apr 25, 2014

The BFC/GQ Fashion Fund has announced its finalists: Christopher Raeburn, Christopher Shannon, Lou Dalton, E. Tautz and Richard Nicoll. The contest for British menswear design, debuting this year, is essentially the men’s equivalent of the BFC/Vogue Fashion Fund.

The five finalists have already begun a mentoring program, receiving brand, management, and retail strategy advice from a panel of experts convened by the BFC. The panel, which includes members of the team behind the luxury phone brand Vertu, the fund’s main sponsor, will choose one first-place recipient of a further 41,000 pounds in value-in-kind services, not to mention the 150,000 pound grant itself.

Important figures of London Collections: Men, the London men’s fashion week, Christopher Raeburn, Christopher Shannon, Lou Dalton, E. Tautz and Richard Nicoll have all earned various levels of support from the BFC. This recognition, in addition to a 3-year minimum active trading period for each designer’s label and mandatory retail presence in the UK as well as abroad, are requirements for the grant and subsequent 12 months of mentoring.

The next edition of London Collections: Men will take place from June 15-17, 2014.
