The British Fashion Council (BFC) has named the designers and labels that its charitable initiative, BFC Fashion Trust, is allocating grants to this year, with £400,000 being shared between a number of key names who will also have business mentoring tailored to their specific business needs.

This year’s recipients for a fashion trust grant combined with a mentoring programme include Aries, Eudon Choi, Marta Jakubowski, Molly Goddard, Nabil Nayal, Paula Knorr, and Roberts Wood.

There will also be an additional mentoring programme for Hillier Bartley, Huishan Zhang, Mother of Pearl,  Paper London and Sharon Wauchob

The Fashion Trust has been running since 2011 and has awarded over £2 million to 42 designer businesses. Although the funding each individual designer gets is relatively small compared to some designer prizes available internationally, the amounts are still crucial to small, early-stage businesses and can make a big difference.

The money has helped fund the implementation of practical solutions such as introducing new capsule collections and producing additional samples sets, as well as enabling long-term strategic plans.

The BFC Fashion Trust’s ‘official partner’ is banking giant HSBC and on Monday Revlon Professional also confirmed that it will be continuing its support throughout 2019.
