A second key ASOS exec has joined Matchesfashion in as many months. This time Christopher Hart has become the luxury fashion e-tailer’s tech and customer experience chief.

He announced on LinkedIn this week that “I’m happy to share that I’m starting a new position as Director of Technology & Customer Experience” at Matchesfashion”.

Hart had been Head of Technology - Web at ASOS for over four years but had originally joined the e-tailer back in 2017.

He’d also previously worked in Tesco’s tech team for almost five years, his final post there being Lead technology Manager - Next Generation Web Platform.

In February, Matchesfashion, which is now headed by former ASOS boss Nick Beighton as its CEO, also secured the appointment of ASOS’s global creative boss John Mooney as its own Creative Director.

Like ASOS, MatchesFfashion is building an experienced new leadership team in its bid to turn the business around.

Its owner, private equity firm Apax Partners recently invested £60 million in the business to support that programme.

The company had taken a majority stake in the business in a deal valued at £1 billion in 2017.

In November, Matches released accounts for the year to the end of January 2022 and reported demand fluctuating around the world.

Revenue for the period was £386.6 million, down from £390.9 million in the previous year. And adjusted EBITDA was a loss of £23.8 million, wider than the loss of £17.2 million a year before.
