Animal opens first UK outlet store in Scotland

Published

Coastal lifestyle clothing brand Animal has opened its first UK outlet store at Caledonia Park, the major Scottish designer village.

It’s taken a 1,504 sq ft unit adjacent to Skopes and is selling a range of the brand’s most popular pieces, including menswear, womenswear, accessories, and footwear.

It joins brands such as Dune, Police, Nike and Hugo Boss at the village.

Caledonia Park is part of the Railpen estate (that’s the investment manager for the £37 billion Railways Pension Scheme) and Railpen’s head of property asset management Matthew Howard said: “Securing an outlet first for such a well-known and reputable brand elevates Caledonia Park’s offer to new heights and highlights Railpen’s ability to continually diversify the destination’s line-up.

“Last year, Caledonia Park signed the first outlet store for Johnston’s of Elgin following our extensive revitalisation of the scheme, and it’s great to see this momentum continuing and prompting other brands to make the same move.”

The arrival of Animal also underscores the success of the outlets sector in recent periods, especially post-pandemic. Locations such as Icon Outlet at The O2 in Greenwich, Wembley Park’s London Designer Outlet and the VIA Outlets portfolio across Europe have all reported strong bounce-backs after lockdowns were eased as consumers seek a mixture of quality and value.

Founded in 1987, Animal has built on its board sports heritage over three decades, becoming a key lifestyle clothing brand for all seasons.
