The Spanish bridal fashion event organized by Fira de Barcelona has placed Albasari Caro at the head of its management, effective immediately. The executive, who has 20 years of experience in the sector, will take over from Estermaria Laruccia, who had been at the head of the event since 2015.

Caro earned a degree in Political Science from Florida International University as well as a master's degree in communications from the American University in Washington D.C. In her extensive career in ready-to-wear and bridal fashion companies, specializing in the expansion and internationalization of businesses, she has led the global expansion of companies such as Bimba y Lola, Mango and Cortefiel.

In her last position as head of retail and international wholesale at Pronovias, Caro was responsible for expanding the brand's international franchise network over the last 10 years.

For the newly appointed director, her goal as head of the event is to "continue its international expansion and its contribution to the development of a sector that, apart from business, connects with creativity, innovation, art, culture, diversity, sustainability and, in short, the way we live".

For his part, Jesús Díez Bertriu the president of Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week and Jesús Peiró's CEO, has stressed how satisfied he is "with her joining the event, bringing her experience and deep knowledge of the entire sector worldwide, and will undoubtedly boost the internationalization of the event and brands as well as generate business". Likewise, through the same statement, the president thanked Laruccia for her work "in strengthening BBFW's global leadership over the last seven years".

Caro is already preparing the next edition of the event, which will be held at the Montjuïc venue between April 19 and 23. Viktor & RolfIn participated in its last edition of BBFW, the first to be held in physical format post-pandemic, which presented its first bridal fashion show, in addition to the shows of 34 designers. Meanwhile, the trade show brought together designs from more than 320 brands, 75% of which were international, and recorded 18,600 visitors, 65% of whom were foreigners.
