​Intersport to enter South American market

The sporting goods and sportswear retailer, Intersport, announced that it has entered into a license agreement with Calzados La Otra Opcion Ltd granting rights for the exclusive distribution and setup of Intersport shops in Chile, as well as the management of the brand’s services in the country.

Calzados La Otra Opcion operates in Chile 20 footwear and sportswear stores, which will be transformed into Intersport’s multi-branded shops by the end of 2016. The stores, located in Chile’s largest cities, boast of 200– 1,400 sq mts of retail space and employ over 200 people.

The Switzerland-based retailer Intersport aims to count with a total of 40 standalone stores in Chile by 2020.

Franz Julen, CEO of Intersport commented: “This market entry is another milestone in the history of INTERSPORT. After Europe, Canada, the Middle East, Asia and Australia Intersport now has a presence in South America.”

Founded in 1968 and headquartered in Bern, Switzerland, the sporting goods company trades in 45 countries.
