Michael Kors Spring Summer Collection 2014 in New York (ITW)

Michael Kors incorporates plenty of simplicity and comfort into his latest collection. Few men are on the runway this time, but there are numerous female models (Karlie, Frankie, Karen and Karolina) with their hair left natural, presenting a more mature and confident look. This new women’s collection excels in blue pinstriped shirts with a lavaliere collar and in dresses, in lizard tops, a knitted mini-jumper, in 50s bikinis and even in a transparent, split pleated dress or in a naval style. Everything is very light and wearable with a controlled sophistication.

Michael Kors: Last fall, we had hurricane Sandy here in New York so last fall I was thinking about something very urban but also very survival. So it’s very strong, maybe a little aggressive. I took a vacation after that show and all of a sudden I started thinking about a more romantic moment, softer, easier, especially when the weather gets warm. I wanted people to go out to dinner and put their phones down and have a romantic dinner so I want clothes that move and catch the breeze, catch the wind; instead of a legging, think about a relaxed trouser, think about a skirt that is flirty, that moves and the whole idea of how do you take something romantic and bring it into the city.
