Walmart hires Aerosoles Interim CEO Denise Incandela to oversee fashion business

Walmart announced this week the hiring of Aerosoles Interim CEO Denise Incandela. The executive will lead the fashion businesses for Walmart.com, Jet.com, and Shoes.com, beginning on October 2, 2017.

The announcement comes one week after Aerosoles filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and reorganization. The official petition stated that the footwear retailer has liabilities of $100 million to $500 million and assets of $10 million to $50 million. Incandela said at the time that improving Aerosoles’ financial structure and retail footprint will allow the company to focus on its turnaround strategy.

Incandela served as Interim CEO of Aerosoles since April 2017 and succeeded R. Shawn Neville, who assumed the role of Executive Chairman of the Board. She was also appointed to the company’s Board of Directors.

Prior to joining Aerosoles, Incandela served as President of Global Digital at Ralph Lauren and served in a number of executive roles at Saks Fifth Avenue, including Chief Marketing Officer and President of Saks Direct.

In her new role at Walmart, she will report to Chief Revenue Officer Scott Hilton.

Walmart hires Incandela in the midst of its battle with Amazon. The retailer acquired Bonobos this year for $310 million to enhance its e-commerce presence.
