The fashion company started by the late Tara Palmer-Tomkinson is to be closed this week. The Desiderata London business will cease trading on March 31 with her Palmer-Tomkinson’s sister Santa Montefiore, who took over as a director after her death, saying it has been decided to wind up the firm.

The Kubbi is a bodysuit styled like a man's shirt

Palmer Tomkinson died at the age of 45 last month from a perforated ulcer. She had started the company almost a year ago, pumping nearly £400,000 into it to set up its UK manufacturing base and its transactional website.

The sole product it sold was the Kubbi, a bodysuit with a top half styled like a man’s shirt only much more fitted to suit a woman’s silhouette. Retailing for £195, it came in a variety of colours and materials.

At its launch last summer the socialite-turned-designer said she had plans for three other statement garments and was also in talks with a major department store for the Kubbi’s retail distribution.
