Smiggle to open first Irish store, expands in UK

Published
Apr 4, 2017

Australian retailer Smiggle is to open up to 20 Irish stores in the next three years as the company launches a physical store presence in what is currently its leading online market outside of the UK.

Smiggle

The firm sells child and tween-focused stationery, as well as bags and accessories, and will debut during May at the Dundrum Shopping Centre in Dublin. It will open another Irish store this summer and should have several more up and running pre-Christmas.

The company, which already has around 90 UK stores and has plans for up to another 40 this year, is part of Solomon Lew’s Premier Investments. That group controls a raft of retail chains in Australia and is a major player in the local fashion retail sector.

The new Dublin store will be the firm’s first location in the eurozone but despite the different currency, the company said it has identified strong synergies with its existing UK business.
