After Mexico and Brazil, Safilo has now turned to Argentina. The Italian eyewear group, controlled by Dutch investment fund Hal, has issued a press release announcing its return to the country, after signing a distribution agreement with local company Ocsa, belonging to the Cosentino family.

Ocsa was founded in Buenos Aires in 2007 and is specialised in the optics market.

The Italian group's objective is to gradually penetrate the Argentinian market, introducing all of its own brands and also those under licence.

The group stated in its communiqué that the agreement will come into effect during the next few months, with the distribution, via selected eyewear stores, of eyeglasses collections "by several prestigious international brands."

In the last two years, Safilo has notably strengthened its business in Latin America, putting Angela Gomez in charge of the region and launching into Mexico and Brazil.
