BERLIN, Sept 25 (Reuters) - Swiss watchmaker Omega, a part of the Swatch Group, has extended its deal as one of the IOC's top sponsors and will be the Olympic Games' official timekeeper until 2020, the International Olympic Committee said on Friday 25 September.

There were no financial details available.

The IOC hopes to raise about 1 billion dollars from its top sponsors from 2009-2012.

Omega, whose original deal ran until the London 2012 Games, has been involved in 29 Olympics to date, according to the IOC.

"Omega's devotion to the development of sports timekeeping, its commitment to athletes and its dedication to the Olympic Movement are a source of enormous confidence for the IOC and the organisers of the Olympic Games," said IOC President Jacques Rogge.

Olympic top sponsors confirmed for the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics and the London Games are Coca-Cola, Acer, Atos Origin, GE, McDonald's, Omega, Panasonic, Samsung and Visa.

Atos Origin, Panasonic and Samsung have extended their partnerships until 2016 while Coca-Cola and Omega have extended their partnerships until 2020. (Writing by Karolos Grohmann, Editing by Miles Evans; To query or comment on this story email [email protected])
