Net-a-Porter x Halpern capsule says party season will be all about sequins

Party season collections are coming thick and fast at the moment and while much of the focus is on the mass-market (Halpern for Topshop, Ashish for Warehouse, Moschino for H&M), the luxury sector isn’t holding back either.

Net-a-Porter/Halpern

Just as Halpern prepares to launch that affordable Topshop line, the London-based label is also launching an exclusive party-wear capsule with luxe e-tailer Net-a-Porter. Inspired by the photographer Hasse Persson, “the collection centres on glamour as a female frame of mind.”

And coming at a time when many of the party-wear collabs are sequin-filled, and after a Fashion Month in which sequins were a major trend, it should resonate with an increasingly glamour-obsessed customer.

The brand is known for its use of sequins and the pieces in this capsule “capture the 1970s spirit of hedonism at the legendary Studio 54 nightclub,” we’re told.  Consisting of eight ready-to-wear items, the collection focuses on “after-dark allure as black paillettes with flashes of neon colour seduce the eye.” The e-tailer said that the “fit and flare silhouette of a glittering jumpsuit or the contrast of an unassuming polo neck with dramatic disco flares make this capsule a game-changer for the party season.”

Global Buying Director Elizabeth von der Goltz said “Michael [Halpern] has made the industry fall in love again with glamour and we are so excited to have an exclusive capsule that will define our customer’s look for the party season.”

The designer added that the Net-a-Porter girl “really gets how to wear this type of clothing. The clothes are about exuberance and personality, which is exactly that woman. Party season is a time where the women who dress like this all year around get to take it to the next level, and [where] the woman who uses the season for her exclusive moments of zest gets to blossom.”

The collection has launched this week.
