Work has started on a £160 million Designer Outlet in Cannock, McArthurGlen’s latest designer village venture in the UK.

Scheduled to open in two phases, the 26,500 sq mt centre will feature over 80 stores plus restaurants and cafés, a children’s play area and 1,400 parking spaces.

Top brands including Ralph Lauren and Superdry are expected to open there in spring 2020. Other brands like Boss, Nike and Jack Wills are also likely to join the new outlet destination, as they also feature in other McArthurGlen villages.

This week, workmen removed fences and cleared trees to make way for the development, reported Express & Star. The shopping centre is a joint venture between McArthurGlen Group and U+I, Rioja Developments Limited, Aviva Investors and the Richardson Family.

Cannock Chase District Council leader George Adamson has hailed the retail scheme as ‘the best thing to happen in Cannock for decades’.

“It will put Cannock on the national and even international retail map,” he said.

The centre is expected to generate over 1,000 jobs and boost visitors numbers to the area, which is located just 30 minutes from Birmingham. Over 11 million consumers live within a 90-minute catchment, one of the largest in McArthurGlen’s UK portfolio.
