‘Cabin Crew: Fashion in the Air’ will feature more than 1400 uniforms from 523 different airlines. The uniforms originate from the personal collection of Dutch KLM (Royal Dutch Airlines) purser Cliff Muskiet, who started his collection in 1993.

One of the highlights that will be on view is the uniform of the now-closed American airline, Braniff International. The design comes from Italian fashion house, Emilio Pucci, dating back to 1965. Airline staff constantly changed outfits during the flight in order to surprise passengers with a new look.

The exhibition is part of the Kunsthal’s aim to unlock hidden private collections.

Kunsthal Rotterdam first opened its doors in 1992. The museum hosts around 25 exhibitions a year, its focus ranges from contemporary art to forgotten cultures, photography, fashion and design.
