Dice Kayek to show as part of couture calendar; plans first store

Dice Kayek is on the rise. The Franco-Turkish brand founded by sisters Ece and Ayse Ege are working on several projects at the same time that should put the spotlight on the brand in the coming months.

First, Dice Kayek, which has not organized shows over the past several seasons - instead presenting collections via videos directed by Marie Schuller - will finally resume the catwalk. In July, it will figure among the new guest members of la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture during its next fashion week.

This summer’s show will mark another opportunity for creative director Ece Ege to bring the brand to the international fashion stage, continuing successful efforts over the past several seasons.

Dice Kayek kicked this year off by winning the Jameel Prize, an award for work by artists inspired by the Islamic tradition. The award includes a grant of about 30,000 euros, given for the first time this year to a fashion brand.

With one foot in France and the other in Turkey, the cosmopolitan brand enjoys a wide international distribution network for its luxury range Black Label as well as its diffusion line Pink Label, launched in 2002. The latter, moreover, has benefited since February from its first corner, completely independent from the rest of the supply at les Galeries Lafayette Haussmann, situated next to other so-called contemporary brands.

All of its labels together, Dice Kayek today counts 110 points of sale worldwide. One of its current priorities, however, is to open its first store. A partnership project in Kuwait could see the light of day by the end of 2014 or early 2015.
