Christian Louboutin is entrusting its cosmetics line to Puig. Founded in 1991, the brand best known for its red-soled shoes has signed a global licensing agreement with the Catalan group for the design, development and distribution of its beauty lines which were first launched in 2014.

"Puig is the best partner to bring our beauty business to the next level while understanding and protecting our DNA and keeping our existing high positioning in the market. As we strongly believe in our potential in beauty, we’ve decided to sign a license agreement", stated Alexis Mourot, Christian Louboutin CEO.

Having entered the beauty sector through a partnership with American company Batallure Beauty, Christian Louboutin now offers nail polishes, lipsticks, eye makeup and perfumes. Its products are high end and presented in theatrical packaging, with nail polishes retailing for 50 euros a piece.

With men's and women's shoe collections and a complete line of handbags and small leather goods, Christian Louboutin currently operates 140 boutiques around the world.

For its part, Puig – which reported revenues of 1.79 billion euros in 2016, a 9% increase over the previous year – is expanding in the beauty sector. The group already owns Penhaligon's and L'Artisan Parfumeur, as well as fragrance licenses for Prada, Valentino and Comme des Garçons
